These sculptures are only a few pieces in a Clay & Glass Chess Set I am making for my den. Although I have allot of work still left, I thought I'd change the pace and do some photo set ups and lighting experiments with these pieces of the set from what I have so far and take advantage of this ability to share them with you.

These, you see here are the light side, the main pieces around three to four inches tall, the pawns are about two inches tall. I make the pieces from colored clay and paint the faces and hands and I use a drop of clear fingernail polish to make their eyes glassy. I also make the swords out of tin by hammering and shaping round stock on my little anvil in the garage.

It's already shaping up to be a very fun project, even for my children and a nice break from the typical product modeling. I hope you will also find this to be a very unique chess set and check back to see more pieces later.
